DESCRIPTION:Some pain is too big to hold alone. Join our virtual gathering to hold space for collective grief and to provide sustenance and strength to keep going. \nThis online Candlelight Vigil is for anyone carrying the weight of what’s happening in the world right now: war\, violence\, the climate crisis\, authoritarianism\, and the erosion of justice. Whether you’re directly impacted or watching from a distance\, you are welcome here. \nAs the United States marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence\, we will convene with healers\, activists and artists in a virtual space for ritual\, music\, and honest conversation. We will grieve what needs grieving\, renew our commitment to the ideals of democracy\, and consider acts of love – both big and small – to carry out in these challenging times. We’ll explore the question: How can our grief and pain become sources of power and love? \nSpecial guests include writer and soul activist Francis Weller\, public health strategist and family caregiver advocate Paurvi Bhatt\, death doula and artist Mangda Sengvanhpheng\, nurse and activist Sarah Warren\, RN\, and Twin Cities-based leaders from Singing Resistance.

SUMMARY:The Wisdom of the Hive
DESCRIPTION:In this three-part Reimagine series\, Michelle Cassandra Johnson and special guests explore themes from her newest book The Wisdom of the Hive (Sounds True\, 2025). By seeing honeybees as our teachers\, we can learn about our relationship with ourselves\, each other\, and the world at large. In times marked by grief\, chaos and uncertainty\, bees offer a powerful example of turning toward pain and fear\, committing to better conditions for all beings to survive\, and building a sweeter future where all can thrive. Featuring luminaries from the fields of wellness\, science\, spirituality\, and the arts\, this interdisciplinary series includes panel discussions\, sound and visual meditations\, and tools to foster a more collective mindset\, much like the bees\, which function as a superorganism\, not thinking of themselves as individual bees\, but rather as a unified collective. Each session opens and closes with a mindful moment and practice inspired by a buzzing beehive of activity. Together we will cultivate the values of interdependence\, strive for greater attunement to one another and the planet\, and see the liminal space between darkness and light as a resource for growth. To kick off the series\, Michelle Cassandra Johnson\, spiritual teacher\, grief tender\, and beekeeper\, will introduce her book and set the stage for our understanding of how a honeybee hive functions. In dialogue with author and spiritual teacher Lama Rod Owens\, Michelle will share both the practical and mystical components of a hive and relate these components to this time on our planet\, weaving in themes of grief\, love\, interdependence\, and the threshold we find ourselves upon now. The program also includes music by singer-songwriter Alexandra “ahlay” Blakely and an opportunity for Q&A with guest speakers.

DESCRIPTION:The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is excited to announce the launch of our brand-new education program\, Caring Communities: Guidance for Supporting Survivors of Suicide Loss. This program is a one-hour presentation available in person or virtually\, and designed to provide participants with information\, resources\, and practical guidance on how to support someone who has experienced a recent loss to suicide. The program is suitable for workplaces and community groups who want to learn how to build more supportive environments for survivors of suicide loss. \n  \nDeveloped by AFSP’s National Loss & Healing Council\, which is made up of experts and individuals with lived experience of suicide loss\, Caring Communities offers actionable insights on navigating conversations\, addressing cultural considerations\, and implementing practical support strategies across diverse settings for loss survivors. \nParticipants will:  \n\nUnderstand suicide as a complex health issue\nUnderstand the impact of suicide on loss survivors\nLearn practical ways to support suicide loss survivors in various settings\nBecome familiar with available resources for suicide loss survivors\n\n  \nRegister here.
