DESCRIPTION:The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is excited to announce the launch of our brand-new education program\, Caring Communities: Guidance for Supporting Survivors of Suicide Loss. This program is a one-hour presentation available in person or virtually\, and designed to provide participants with information\, resources\, and practical guidance on how to support someone who has experienced a recent loss to suicide. The program is suitable for workplaces and community groups who want to learn how to build more supportive environments for survivors of suicide loss. \n  \nDeveloped by AFSP’s National Loss & Healing Council\, which is made up of experts and individuals with lived experience of suicide loss\, Caring Communities offers actionable insights on navigating conversations\, addressing cultural considerations\, and implementing practical support strategies across diverse settings for loss survivors. \nParticipants will:  \n\nUnderstand suicide as a complex health issue\nUnderstand the impact of suicide on loss survivors\nLearn practical ways to support suicide loss survivors in various settings\nBecome familiar with available resources for suicide loss survivors\n\n  \nRegister here.

DESCRIPTION:Explore effective ways for Utilizing Digital Space to Strengthen Social Connections by joining Healthy Places by Design’s webinar on September 24 from 3-4 pm ET. We live in a digital world and it is imperative that we utilize social media\, online forums\, and other technology in ways that support health and a sense of community. What are the key qualities of healthy online platforms? What can we learn from the design of physical public spaces that can be translated to digital spaces? Deepti Doshi\, Co-Director of New Public\, will answer these questions and highlight the Civic Signals – a research-backed framework with practice-oriented guidance and examples for using digital spaces to strengthen social connections.
