Associate Professor, McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, Director, Texas Elder Abuse and Mistreatment Collaboratory
Jason Burnett, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston and Director of the Texas Elder Abuse and Mistreatment Collaboratory. His research and program development focus on social connection and mental health factors related to elder mistreatment, self-neglect, and stroke recovery, and disability. He also leads UTHealth Houston’s university-wide Social Connection Program, advancing interventions and innovation at the intersection of aging services and healthcare. As part of this program, Dr. Burnett leads a funded statewide stepped-care social and mental health engagement program designed to address social disconnection and increase mental health access for vulnerable adults with and without disabilities. He has also developed and leads a social connection program for older homebound meal recipients as well as an online social connection program for stroke survivors.
