State of the US Ecosystem

Efforts to address social isolation, loneliness, and connection (SILC) are growing across the country — spanning sectors, geographies, and levels of influence. Until now, there’s been no centralized way to see this ecosystem as a whole.

To fill that gap, the Foundation for Social Connection spent 2025 developing the US SILC Ecosystem Map and this inaugural State of the US Ecosystem Report, informed by the SOCIAL Framework and shaped by input from our Scientific Leadership Council and partners across the field. Together, these resources increase visibility into the SILC landscape, support coordination, and inform priorities for what comes next.

Explore the Map

The US SILC Ecosystem Map is an interactive tool that visualizes entities advancing social connection nationwide, categorized by entity type, geographic scope, sector, population focus, ecosystem role, and level of influence. Filter and navigate to see where efforts are concentrated, identify potential partners, and spot where more attention or investment is needed.

Read the Report

Drawing on survey responses from 60+ entities across sectors, roles, and geographies, the report offers a field-level look at the ecosystem’s strengths, challenges, and gaps — and what’s needed to strengthen the field going forward. As the field’s first baseline, it gives everyone working in this space a shared understanding of where the ecosystem stands today and how it may evolve in the future.

Get Involved

The US SILC ecosystem is dynamic and evolving. We invite ongoing engagement with these resources to reflect the field’s growth and needs over time. Know of an entity that should be considered for the map? Interested in learning more or exploring collaboration?
