Becky Sniderman

Community and Events Manager

Becky Sniderman (she/her) is currently the Community and Events Manager at the Foundation for Social Connection, helping strengthen the Foundation’s growing network of cross-sector leaders working to advance social connection and address social isolation and loneliness. In this role, Becky oversees virtual and in-person events, manages community-building initiatives, supports strategic partnerships, and creates opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing among members of the social connection ecosystem.

Before joining the Foundation, Becky served as a Project and Events Manager at Healthy Places by Design, a non-profit that advances community-led action and proven, place-based strategies to ensure health and well-being for all. During her tenure at Healthy Places, she was privileged to partner with the Foundation and served as a logistical lead for multiple events, including the bi-annual Social Connection Conference.

Originally from Rhode Island, she earned her Bachelor’s in Sociology and Philosophy with minors in Social Justice and Social Policy and Health: Science, Society, and Policy from Brandeis University. She also holds a certificate in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from the Institute for Nonprofit Practice in affiliation with Tufts University and is a Certified Meeting Professional with the Events Industry Council.

Outside of work, Becky sings with and holds multiple volunteer leadership positions with Asheville, North Carolina’s longest-running women’s chorus, Womansong. She also enjoys exploring the beauty of Asheville with her wife and goofy pitbull and fills her cup by spending lots of quality time connecting with friends and family.

What drives you to work on addressing social isolation & loneliness and fostering social connection?

I have been passionate about public health and public policy ever since studying these topics in college. For the last few years, based on partnering with the Foundation, I was excited to grow my knowledge in the emerging field of social connection and learn how it’s deeply interconnected with health and well-being. I also live my life focused on fostering meaningful connections, including cultivating an inclusive, community-centered environment in my local chorus. I’m thrilled to be part of the dedicated, hard-working Foundation team after years of working alongside them!
