This program is rooted in the belief that storytelling has the power to shift perspectives, influence systems, and drive meaningful change.
Across the country, people like you are creating meaningful change – strengthening social ties, uplifting community voices, and creating spaces where everyone feels a sense of belonging. This program equips trusted messengers with research, tools, and a network of thought partners to transform diverse lived experiences and expertise into powerful narratives and coordinated campaigns that elevate social connection as a national priority and mobilize collective action.
The program is open to U.S.-based individuals who are passionate about advancing social connection through storytelling, communications, and narrative change. Applicants should have or be looking to develop a working knowledge of the Foundation’s resources — particularly the SOCIAL Framework and Action Guide for Building Socially Connected Communities. While we encourage anyone interested to apply, applicants should note that our 2026 work will largely focus on youth and young adults, Generative AI and digital well-being, social capital and economic mobility, and community coalition building, with opportunities to engage additional topics as our work evolves throughout the year.
Below are examples of a few remarkable roles ambassadors may play in growing this movement.
You bring experience in public speaking, writing, media, or digital storytelling and excel at shaping narratives around social connection. You are skilled in developing communications strategies and campaigns that translate research and lived experience into messages that increase public understanding and drive the national conversation on social connection.
You have deep, place-based relationships and are ready to mobilize within your community. You understand the specific context, needs, and dynamics of your neighborhood, city, or region — and can activate local stories, partnerships, and engagement in ways that resonate on the ground.
You have strong relationships with philanthropic networks, policymakers, or other influential decision-makers and are eager to help ensure stories of social connection reach the people who shape policy, systems, and environment change.
